FLOORSTUDIO, in collaboration with Sustainable Ocean Alliance Bali and SHH, presents a new body of work inspired by ghost nets—abandoned fishing nets that continue to drift through the ocean, posing a serious threat to marine ecosystems.

Often invisible yet deeply destructive, ghost nets entangle marine life and damage coral reefs long after they are lost at sea. This collaboration seeks to bring visibility to this urgent issue by transforming these discarded materials into meaningful design expressions.

Through this initiative, SHH reinterprets ghost net materials into conceptual art forms, while FLOORSTUDIO translates these ideas into hand-tufted works, combining the reclaimed elements with leftover yarn. The result is a series of tactile pieces that reflect both the fragility and resilience of the ocean—where texture, material, and story converge.

The event was held at Titik Dua Ubud, whose support played an important role in bringing this initiative to life. The hotel provided a thoughtful setting for the exhibition and program, and its team’s collaboration and hospitality were instrumental to the overall experience.

As part of the program, a panel discussion was आयोजित featuring inspiring voices from across disciplines, including Ghina Raihanah Tadjioedin, Janis Argeswara, and Hendro Hadinata, moderated by Satya Winnie. The discussion explored the intersection of sustainability, creativity, and ocean conservation—highlighting how collective efforts across industries can contribute to meaningful environmental impact.

Presented in conjunction with a program by Sustainable Ocean Alliance Bali—also featuring a screening of Ocean with David Attenborough—this collaboration positions design as a medium for awareness and dialogue. It highlights how creative practices can contribute to broader conversations around sustainability and ocean regeneration.

“Reclaiming the Blue” is not only a material exploration, but a shared movement—one that invites the design community to reconsider waste, rethink processes, and reimagine the role of design in addressing environmental challenges.
